Storm Warnings! Hanger around!

Don't bother to look outside...the weather is fine!
The health of your armies vehicles however, may NOT be....

Enter Landspeeder Storm! I really didn't intend on mounting all the
scouts in it, but I just got going on them and before I knew it...the model was complete.

I used the multi-melta out of the landraider box as the Storm does not come with any option
in the bits except for bolter.  I nubbed the mounting hooks from the bolter
and glued them onto the melta.  While its not perfect it came out pretty good I think.

Another challenge was the gunners arms fitting to the melta and/or positioning.
While again not perfect, it too looks pretty decent.

The biggest challenge by far was NOT to break the ()*&^$$%^*) antenna.  Not 1x but 3x!!!!
I'm waiting for some magnets to come in but...it was already too late for this one...it was gonna look
like a big ball of glue after a 4th repair...

I thought back to what ever redneck american does for a broken antenna....A COAT HANGER!!!
After my brother and I completely died laughing for a long long long time..out came the paperclips
and the dremel.  Add a little tin bitz + gold paint for the wire hanger look and our little comic relief was finished.

Sorta like the comic relief, when you see someone is flying a landspeeder storm at your wall of heavy hitters before you swat it out of the sky.

Enjoy!

3rd Company Tactical Inductees

After extensive body changes and training, everyone starts out in tactical squads.
Here 3rd Company Tactical Inductees stand in parade dress awaiting
assignment by Master of Recruits to their assigned units.

Bread and Butter units....bringing the hurt!

Salamander Scouts

New recruits spend time in scout squads while they train and undergo changes to their bodies
from the chapter geneseed.  Few units actually show bare heads, the effects of the Salamander homeworld's radiation can be seen by pitch black skin and red eyes.

Here is a unit of scout snipers outfitted with sniper rifles and camouflage cloaks -

Ignis Mortis is Finis!

Well I have finally finished a WIP!  Yay me! I'm super critical of the mistakes, but I've learned a lot.
My brother says he's pleased with the results so here he is......

and finally another GREAT product I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  I've managed to fix up a couple of my old brushes that I would have just tossed, and hopefully I can maintain my new brushes better!

Hmmmm....what to do next....Landspeeder....Terminators.....Tactical Squads....Scouts.....
Choices...choices....feel free to vote!  LOL

Is he EVER going to paint?!

I know my brother feels this way when it comes to his salamanders.!  OK OK his landraider will get a little love tonight...errr paint tonight - I promise!

For my bit and base making.....
Can't wait to break into these bad boys!

Alas though...paint tonight is my mantra!
Here's a couple new things to move that effort along!

Vallejo

and P3

Ok I'm out of here for now!  Come back for more updates...well probably tomorrow   : )

New Tools - Mauler Moves On!

After the last gaff and success it was time to move on.  Time to bust out another new tool.

Enter Dremel Stylus!  What a fantastic little tool that I havn't even begun to use fully or properly yet!
I used it to polish the mauler up and drill pin holes into his feet.
Next was the start of his custom base, which he is pinned through and to.....

Not having been around long enough for empty paint pots, nor liking the feel of them...I went searching for a creation to hold my models while painting.  Here's what I came up with!

Egg shaped wood block....$2.47  Hobby Lobby    Sticky Tack......$1.99  Hobby Lobby
and BAM.....my feels good answer to my "how do I hold my figure" dilemma!

RAWWWR.....prime and paint me before I eat you......thats what hes saying to you too right?!

New Toys...Same Old Boy

Well it's been a couple of days, since I've been able to post thanks to computer issues.  But I'm back with a vengeance and quite a few things to blog about.

Update : Dire Troll Mauler

Bath Time!

I had a little bit of simple green in the truck so I figured it was time for a try!  18 hrs later....

All in all a great job by Simple Green.....but I'm anxiously waiting to try my new toy

Just $3 for 64oz @ Dollar General.  It's supposed to be great for stripping.  I'll make that judgement next painting faux pas!
